A step by step guide to getting the most out of your heating controls
Using heating controls can reduce your heating bills by up to 30% through improving your energy efficiency. Heating controls also reduce greenhouse gas emissions and most importantly, increase your home comfort levels.
Heating controls are also known as zoned heating or multi-zone heating, and are a system that allows you to control the temperature in areas or 'zones' of your home. Installing a fully integrated heating control system in your home can allow you to control the temperature in each room, and your hot water separately.
These controls can be installed both as wired or wireless system giving you a range of options for controls and the placement of your boiler. Wireless systems, as the name suggests, allows your heating controls to signal your boiler wirelessly and allows you to add a smart heating control system to your heating system. The SEAI Better Homes grant scheme provides a grant for adding or upgrading heating controls.
Smart heating controls allow you to control your heating with an app on your mobile phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. Popular smart heating control systems include EMBER from EPH, Hive, Honeywell, and Nest.
Using your heating controls
Your EPH heating controls can be used to choose when you want your heating and hot water to come on at different points of the day. You can choose a different schedule for weekdays, weekends and even set up a holiday mode so you always have heat when you need it but never waste a cent on heating an empty home!
